The Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme is aimed to promote higher education in the North Eastern Region of India.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students have to have either passed Class XII or another level that is determined by their acceptance into any university through any recognized board in India–including CBSE, ICSE, NIOS, and special high schools.

A) Universities/Institutions/Colleges included under Section 2(f) and 12 (B) of UGC Act

B). Deemed to be Universities included under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and are eligible for receiving grants-in-aid from UGC.

C) Universities/Institutions/Colleges aided by the Central Government for students of the Northeast

D). Institutes of National Importance.

(E). Institutions recognized by other Examinations Statutory Councils within as well as outside

1) Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme will cover expenses of first-year for any approved/shortlisted candidate

2) If one of the degrees completed with this scholarship is a dual degree such as law and pass, or engineering and pass the scholarship is only payable for the first degree. I quote: “The university shall clarify it while recommending a candidate for a scholarship.”

Guidelines for eligibility for Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme

1) Scholarships are not open to students pursuing an online course.

2) The Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme for the North Eastern Region of India has been taken in order to empower the future leaders from the region.

In order to ensure minority participation, The scholarship will be awarded within a duration of 5 years and In total it will take care of 10,000 local disabilities.

3) Students in the region who aren’t in the management quota, but have good grades, can apply for the scholarship.

4) Applicants to the scholarship must not be in a diploma program that does not lead to a degree.

5) Students whose parents have a minimum annual income of Rs.4.5 lakh rupees or more will not be eligible for a positive response to the bid.

2) Is there any annual income ceiling for candidates to be included under the scholarship scheme?

The Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme covers only those candidates whose annual family income is not more than Rs.4.5 lakh per annum. Candidates must have completed HSLC Examination not before reaching 18 years of age.

Yes, an earlier scholarship recipient could also be eligible for the Ishan Uday Scheme. However, the awardee will not be able to draw scholarship any longer after they fulfill their degree requirements.

9) Does Ishan Uday covers all courses under the ambit of the scheme?

Yes. The scholarship will be awarded in general degree courses, professional courses, technical courses, medical and paramedical courses (including MBBS, BAMS, BDS, B.Arch, BTech etc.).
