How to Join Indian Air Force After 12th

For the candidates who have just completed their 12th course in science stream will get a chance to join Indian airforce. Some friends asked me if a person can join Indian air force after 12th arts or not. The answer is you must pass your twelfth class from science stream only.

Some of the friends also asked “how to join Indian air force after 12th for girls?” Unfortunately, girls can’t join Indian air force after 12th. An woman can join Indian Air force after graduation. So, girls should try after their graduation.

I will discuss the step by step process of joining IAF after 12th in very simple way. But, if you are not from science stream, you may join Indian Army after 12th.

Please note that you can only join Indian Air Force as a Flying Officer After 12th Science. Flying officer means you will get appointment in the flying branch of Indian Air force after completion of your NDA training.

NDA Entrance Exam

There is only one door open for the candidates who want to get a job in Indian air force after 12th.

You must apply for NDA entrance Examination. NDA stands for National Defence Academy.

NDA entrance examination will be held by UPSC. This examination will be held twice in a year. You can apply any of the examinations through the official website of UPSC. The websites of UPSC are upsc.gov.in and upsconline.nic.in.

Eligibility Conditions for NDA Exam

NDA exams are held by UPSC twice every year. The forms will be available in the month of May and December of every year.

Educational Qualification to Join IAF after 12th

You know that the basic qualification to join IAF after 12th is that, the candidate must be from science stream. You must pass 12th in science stream with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects.

You may also apply for the NDA examination for IAF if you are studying in 12th class. But, you must confirm that your study will be completed before starting the NDA course. In this case you should also qualify for the age criteria.

Age Limit for Joining IAF after 12th

NDA has fixed the age limit for the candidates who want to join Indian Air force after 12th. For the 10+2 selection a candidate’s age must be between 16.5 years to 19 years. This age limit is calculated as the commencement date of NDA classes.

Physical Standards for joining IAF after 12th

The following physical conditions must be fulfilled by the candidates who want to join Indian airforce after intermediate. These are compulsory for each candidates.

  • You should have the requisite Weight and Height ratio for IAF joining.
  • For IAF jobs after 12th good Physical and Mental health is a compulsory criteria.
  • IAF wants a candidate who has a well developed chest (expansion should be at least 5cm after full inspiration).
  • Another important physical criteria is healthy bones and joints of a candidate.
  • Moreover, you should have a good hearing capacity.

NDA Syllabus and Study Materials

Clear the SSB Interview

Service Selection Board interview is the second stage of selection process for 12th pass candidates. This interview is compulsory for all the candidates who want to join Indian Military Forces.

After completing the NDA entrance examination, you will have to pass the SSB interview. SSB interview is a set of interviews which continues for 5 days.

Pass in the PABT

The third phage of selection for the Indian Air force for 12th pass candidates is Pilot Aptitude Battery Test. You will get only one chance in your life to pass in this test.

PABT is the test which is designed for the candidates who want to go for flying branch of Indian Air force.

Attend the Medical Test and Fitness Test

The forth part of the selection process of Air force candidates is the Medical and fitness test. They will test your physical conditions thoroughly.

You have to qualify in every steps of the medical tests.

Training in NDA for Three Years

The last stage for the selection of candidates is NDA training. You should successfully complete this training to get Indian air force job after 12th.

The training will be done along with the other two wings (Army and Navy).
